Idlewild Park is about 50 miles east of Pittsburgh, but well worth the drive. Families usually start the day off with a stroll through Storybook Forest where nursery rhymes come to life. Kids can walk through Grandma’s house and see the three little bears fast asleep, meet the old woman who lived in a shoe and pass over the bridge from Billy Goat’s Gruff. Other highlights at Idlewild are Jumpin’ Jungle, Olde Idlewild and the Soak Zone. Don’t miss out on Mr. Rogers Neighborhood either. Parents can share a part of their childhood with their own kids. The Soak Zone is the perfect spot to cool off with water slides, a giant pool and a splash pad for the little ones. Idlewild is usually open May through October when the weather is best.
