We're not called Hotlanta just for the weather. Here in the south we're used to sweating in the summer. We're also used to sweating while we're working on our fitness in one of the many exercise establishments in the city.

Decatur Boxing Club

Decatur Boxing Club will make you feel like you've stepped into a "Rocky" movie. The set-up is old school boxing club with flair. One thing that sets this spot apart from others is the female-only option. Get schooled by top boxer Terri "the Boss" Moss. From advanced classes to one-on-one sessions, there's something for everyone here. Whether you've been boxing for years and want to get better or if you want a group session where you can work out and sweat while getting out some aggression, there's a class for you here at Decatur Boxing Club. They also offer classes for girls 13-16 to learn to box as well. So bring your little sister or daughter and get your fight on together.

Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park

This trail at the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park will kick your butt as it gains 100 feet elevation for every .1 mile in its 1-mile length. Walk or run it, but be sure to check out the eight interpreted points of interest as you tackle this rocky beast. On top of being one of the best spots for running and climbing around Atlanta, the mountain trial also has plenty to look at. From wide open fields to scenic trees and wooded areas, the area if filled with beauty. Plenty to look at while you work up a sweat. The trail is flawlessly maintained and is a perfect spot for families as well as a solitary run or climb.

Atlanta Krav Maga Fitness

Originally develeoped for the Israeli Defense Force (IDF), Krav Maga is based on instinctual fight or flight movements and natural reflexes. As intimidating as Krav Maga can be, the staff at AKMF are welcoming and helpful, making sure everyone feels comfortable in classes and during instruction. Not only is Krav Maga a fantastic workout, it's also a great way to learn self-defense from some of the top trainers in the city. If you're afraid to be aggressive and really work hard, this probably isn't the exercise for you, but for those willing to show a little attitude, it is perfect. Try this great workout for only $10/class and learn why it is a great self-defense workout.

Metro Chattahoochee River

Learn to kayak or canoe on the Metro Chattahoochee River ("Metro Hooch") in an all day class that includes instruction and equipment rental. The classes begin at Johnson Ferry and instructors go over everything you need to know in order to successfully "Shoot the Hooch." From paddle style to how to keep your endurance, you will be fully able to paddle to your heart's delight after a course with the folks at Metro Chattahoochee River. Classes are available for newbies or those who are old hat at it. If you are feeling adventurous, a 2-day beginner whitewater class is offered and travels out of town. All classes are taught by certified American Canoe Association instructors.
