Amalfi Hotel

If the stuffy luxury of the Gold Coast is not your style, then the Amalfi Hotel may be more your type of boutique hotel. Situated in the up and coming River North district, the Amalfi Hotel is the definition of cool. Each stay begins with a greeting from an Experience Designer at an individual check in desk who will act more like a close friend than a typical concierge to set you up at the best tables at the newest downtown restaurants or get you on the list at the hottest Chicago clubs.

The hotel decor is vibrant, filled with exciting textures and colors. Spa services are available in room. Like many boutique hotels, the rooms are quite small, although exquisitely furnished. The location of the Amalfi Hotel is convenient to the Miracle Mile, the Navy Pier and the Loop. Breakfast and Wi-Fi are complimentary.

Carleton Hotel

Architecture buffs visiting Chicago will want to make the trek out to the near Western suburbs to tour Frank Lloyd Wright's studio and homes. Who would want to miss the fascinating house built around a tree? The Carleton Hotel in Oak Park, which predates Frank Lloyd Wright's work, is the perfect home base for such an exploration.
