Columbus Adventure Boot Camp for Women

Does your workout need a jumpstart? This outdoor program of hard core fitness instruction, nutritional counseling and motivational training is for women only and starts each day at 5:30 a.m. For $140, you’ll get a one-hour workout, five days a week for four weeks. This program is meant to challenge everyone, but they won’t leave anyone behind either so you have no excuses to not participate. They offer classes on all four sides of the city, so no matter where you are there’s one close by. They give you a full assessment at the beginning and the end of the program so you can see for yourself what kind of progress you’ve made.

Blendon Woods Disc Golf

How much of a workout can you really get from throwing a Frisbee? Actually, a lot. Flying disc golf is a lot like traditional golf, only you use a Frisbee instead of a ball, and you aim for a hung metal basket instead of a hole in the ground. The game is tons of fun, and gives you a great aerobic workout, as well as helping to tone both your upper and lower body. The Blendon Woods course is great for beginners and experts. Fairways were cleared through woods and grass was planted much like on a ball golf course. Elevation gains and a bisecting stream make for fun play. The course is open year round, and players are expected to pay the green fee by placing money in an "honor basket."

Columbus Dance Centre

Dancing is a great way to get your heart rate up, so come get your groove on at the Columbus Dance Centre. Take a wide variety of classes at this popular dance mecca. Choose from ballroom, dance aerobics, hip hop, jazz, ballet, belly dancing, zumba, salsa and even yoga. They offer classes for all age ranges, as well as for singles and couples. Not sure if dancing is your thing? They offer a free introductory session as long as you’re older than 21, so give it a try – you’ve got nothing to lose.

High Banks Metro Park

Get a fresh outlook on fitness by taking your routine outdoors. High Banks is king of the Metro Parks when it comes to hiking. Cliffs reaching heights of up to 1oo feet and deep ravines mean that hikers on these trails can expect plenty of elevation changes as they tackle the difficult terrain in some portions of the park. This Metro Park is dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your four-legged friend for a hike through an open field or wooded path. The park also offers several paved surfaces popular with rollerbladers and bicyclists.
