Uncle Willie's Pies

If you’re into good old-fashioned home-baked pies and cobblers just like Grandma used to make, look no further than Uncle Willie’s Pies. Founded by father-daughter team (Uncle) Willie and Cicily (CeCe) Pettigrew, Uncle Willie’s is one of the leading “down-home” dessert shops in DFW. Whether you want the best pecan pie in Dallas or peach cobbler fit for a queen, Uncle Willie’s will quickly become your favorite destination for Southern-inspired after-dinner sweets. Stop by Uncle Willie’s to taste the pie blogger Kat Robinson calls “good enough to be a meal on its own” or pick some up for your next summer cookout or holiday meal.

Dude, Sweet Chocolate

“Dude, Sweet Chocolate” is both the name of this chocoholics’ paradise and what you’ll be saying after you sample one of their yummy hand-made delights. Chocolatier Katherine Clapner was voted 2010’s best chocolatier by both the Dallas Observer and D Magazine, who called her the “Willy Wonka of Dallas.” And for good reason. This isn’t your typical chocolate. Clapner flavors her chocolate with things most people don’t associate with chocolate, for example, beet, curry... orange Pop Rocks. One of the most popular items is the Crack-in-a-Box, a bark-style creation of salted and candied hazelnuts, almonds, macadamia and soy nuts dunked in South American dark chocolate and cocoa beans.

Opulent Cakes

At Opulent Cakes, owner and baker Donna Nino makes some of the most beautiful wedding and specialty cakes in town. But you don’t need a special occasion to enjoy one of her tasty treats! Stop in for an Orange Grand Marnier or White Chocolate Raspberry cupcake any day of the week. Better yet, spoil yourself and your family rotten and pre-order a German Chocolate or Peanut Butter Cup two-layer cake to pick up on the way home. Every cake at Opulent Cakes is made to order using only the finest ingredients, including real eggs, whipping cream and butter. It may not be diet-friendly, but your family will thank you.
