Exercise in Dallas, TX
Get in the best shape of your life with real outdoor bootcamp. Using the same basic training drills and exercises used by the Army Rangers and Navy Seals, the trainers (or should we say drill sergeants) at Dallas Military Fitness have been kicking DFW-area butts for over 10 years. You’ll lose weight and inches and gain strength and endurance at the original Dallas-area bootcamp. Classes are co-ed and the hardest workers might just win the coveted Ranger Award. Gain maximum results while working out only three days a week and learn discipline, motivation and teamwork while having a heck of a lot of fun.
With 14,000 square feet of climbing surface split between bouldering and route climbing surfaces, Dallas Rocks is a great place to work out that upper body in the cool comfort of an indoor climbing gym. They constantly change their walls, so every time you go back, there’s a challenging new route to tackle. They offer private lessons and party packages with some of the best climbing coaches in the area.
After you’ve tested your skill and endurance on the wall, workout your lower body at the fitness center upstairs, where you’ll find treadmills, bikes, bags and more. With an in-house nutritionist and kinesiologist, Dallas Rocks is at the peak of the climbing industry.
If you’re looking for a fun and strenuous workout, Lake Ray Hubbard is the place for you. Sailing is a challenging sport that requires stamina, fitness and mental acuity. And Lake Ray Hubbard provides some of the best sailing in DFW. As fun as it may be, swimming is prohibited on the lake. But while you’re out on the water, you can stop and fish for the lake’s plentiful supply of white, hybrid and largemouth bass, channel and blue catfish or white crappie. If you need supplies, the Bass ProShop is nearby. After a relaxing (and hopefully successful) venture fishing, sail back in to one of the two boat ramps.
Exercise your mind, body and soul with one of the most chic workouts available at Tsada Yoga in Dallas. This warm and welcoming location features a diverse clientele and nurturing teachers. Get in shape while treating yourself to a beautiful panoramic view of the Trinity River greenscape. Choose from a multitude of classes based on your fitness level and goals.
Perhaps the most popular class is its weekly Yoga Underground, a socially conscious class where students convene with Mother Nature, often accompanied by musicians, at various outdoor locations. At under $15 per session (less if you join), this inexpensive workout is great for busy mom’s or professionals looking to decompress after a hard day.
Hikers and power-walkers are drawn to Turtle Creek Trail because of its scenic surroundings and winding paths hugging Turtle Creek. You’ll pass through parks, over wooden bridges and under gorgeous foliage (especially beautiful during the fall). With 46 acres of open space, this trail is a real treat.
The picturesque staircases and bridges suspended above the water make it seem metropolitan, but the natural landscaping, and below-street-level areas (and possibly even a small critter or two) make going with a pal a smart idea. If hiking isn’t your thing, you’ll also find tennis and basketball courts and a recreation facility. So grab a friend (or three) and just go have fun!
