Single’s Valentine’s Day Mixer

If you’re single and looking, have a little fun this Valentine’s Day at the Valentine’s Day Mixer at Jamaica Gates Caribbean Cuisine in Arlington. Sample complimentary appetizers while you look for Mr. or Mrs. Right in a fun, safe environment. The party starts with an icebreaker followed by one hour of speed-dating (three-minute intervals). Sign up online at EventBrite (search for Jamaica Gates in Arlington, TX).

All guests will receive a box of chocolates (and red roses for the ladies) to complete that Valentine’s Day feeling. Drinks are on special and a live DJ will be on hand to add to the excitement. Tickets are $10 and you must be over 21 to attend. And remember: dress to impress!

Belmont Hotel

Known for having one of the best views of the unique Dallas skyline, the Belmont Hotel was named the Best Hotel of 2010 by the Dallas Observer. Nestled on a cliff just outside of downtown Dallas, the Belmont has a clean, retro feel with all the modern comforts.

After you take in the view, hop down to the bar to try the Signature Belmontini (Absolut, pomegranate and champagne). The next day, hitch a ride to the Bishop Arts District to eat or shop. The February Love Package, which runs between $169 and $269, comes in either a Sweet or Spicy version and features a bottle of champaign, chocolates and either a small bouquet or adult-centric goodie bag!

Cebolla Fine Flowers

What’s better than flowers on Valentine’s Day? Flowers from the florist who’s raved about by Oprah and doing arrangements for some of this year’s most exclusive Super Bowl parties – and what Texas gal doesn’t love football (or love someone who does)?  This Valentine’s Day, Cebolla Fine Flowers, repeatedly voted Best Florist in Dallas, will have specials including beautiful arrangements with heart-shaped sea pearls and a monochromatic cube of red roses with chic carnations and tiny bead accents.

Don’t just pick up the flowers, though; make Cebolla part of the date (check website for hours)! The Emporium’s famous romantic interior features chandeliers and mosaic-colored lights hanging from the 20-foot ceilings – sure to make her feel like your queen!

Great American Hot Air Balloon Ride

Say “I love you” at a thousand feet on a Great American Hot Air Balloon Ride at Soaring Adventures of America. You’ll float gently across the sky between 500 and 1,000 feet for about three hours before landing to celebrate with a traditional champagne toast. Just wear comfortable, practical clothes (as if you’re going for a nature walk) and dress in layers if it’s cold. You even get to make your appointment directly with your pilot!

It’s a bit pricey at almost $200 per person (though they’re currently offering a $30 per person discount), but well worth the expense if you’re celebrating a significant anniversary or popping "the question." Just don’t drop the ring!

Keith & Margo’s St. Valentine’s Day Massacre

Feeling a bit adventurous? On Saturday, February 12, 2011, the Omni Dallas Hotel at Park West will be hosting Keith & Margo’s St. Valentine’s Day Massacre!

Your “homicide detective” host will guide you through the evening as you try to nab the culprit from among the professional comedic actors playing suspects. The $94 per person includes the show, food, dancing, tax and gratuities, and one free drink from the cash bar. It’s a great event for singles, too! Vegetarians can be accommodated (with notice) and couples can stay the night at the Omni for an additional $130 (breakfast included). If you’re looking for something a bit different to celebrate the most romantic time of the year, make reservations online now (Google "murder mystery texas").
