Trident Booksellers and Cafe

If you can figure out the insane parking situation around Pearl Street, be sure to visit Trident Booksellers and Café. Better yet, skip the parking and utilize some sort of public transportation (or a bike!). Just get there. The café and book store are attached so grab a latte or cup of joe before you browse to enhance your book-shopping experience. They buy used books on a regular basis and the staff is really laid back, but helpful. When you’re done browsing, pull up a chair on the patio for some killer people watching, as only Boulder can offer.

Kilgore Used Books and Comics

Kilgore Used Books and Comics was born after two book-loving friends discovered their shared dream to open a book store. This passion is palpable when you walk in the store, located in a vibrantly quirky stretch of 13th Avenue in Capitol Hill. You'll find a quality selection of books (both new and used) and a staff that seems to love what they do. If you are a fan of comics, Kilgore and you are simpatico. The store is also very supportive of independent cartoonists and regularly features their work on bookmarks created just for Kilgore.

Black & Read

Head to Arvada, the northwest of Denver, to visit Black & Read, a store filled with a truly eclectic inventory. This is a one-stop shop for the collector that isn’t quite sure what she wants to collect. In the mood for vintage vinyl? They’ve got it. Have some CDs to trade in? They’ll take them. Need to unload some video games? Unload away, and buy another one before you leave. Of course you’ll find a wide selection of used books and even rare books. Black & Read offers some serious sales as well so give them a call or check their Facebook page for the latest offers.

Boulder Book Store

Boulder itself has an independent spirit, which suits the Boulder Book Store just fine. Situated amidst the buzz of the Pearl Street Mall, the Boulder Book Store offers 20,000 square feet of a literary paradise. The staff truly caters to their book-loving customers and will even help them locate hard to find or out of print titles. Book-related events abound at the Boulder Book Store. They host a slew of author signings, readings and other events throughout the year and are exceptionally supportive of local authors and the community. Take a few hours to explore the three floors of new and used books and, chances are, you won’t leave empty handed.

Capitol Hill Books

For over 30 years, Capitol Hills Books has been a mainstay on Colfax Avenue. This charming store is full of personality, reasonably priced books (many of them used) and a large selection of unique books. When you step off of Colfax and into Capitol Hill Books, the urban buzz is almost silenced as the cozy calm of this well-loved book store takes over. While their children’s selection isn’t fantastic, fiction-lovers will find this store particularly interesting. Collectors of quirky, one-of-a-kind and vintage postcards will love it here as well. Need to send a book? The staff at Capitol Hill expertly packs and ships to any location in the States.
