Spuntino Dolce e Salato

Whether you are craving sweet or savory, Spuntino is sure to have exactly what you need. This quaint shop is fashioned after the many neighborhood "bars" found throughout Italy. The casual but attentive staff knows they've got a good thing going and are happy to make recommendations for you. The coffee and panino are authentic and delicious but the colorful dessert case is not to be missed. Handmade popsicles, rich gelato and decadent macarons will beckon you to slow down a bit and enjoy a well-deserved treat.

Cakes Amore

Walking into Cakes Amore in Littleton is like stepping into a sweet tooth paradise. The colors and sweet smells will transport you to a sugary wonderland. But don’t get too carried away or you’ll miss out on some of the best baked goods and desserts in the Denver metro area. The cakes are true works of art and the cupcakes are heavenly. Flavors include S’mores, tiramisu, chocolate dipped banana and root beer float. They even offer an “Obama” cupcake which is described as “white cake filled with fudge and topped with coconut icing and flakes for his Hawaiian roots.”

Mermaid's Bakery

The dessert creators at Mermaid’s Bakery don’t just want you to enjoy the fruits of their kitchen – they want you to experience their kitchen. That’s why you’ll find all the baking action right at the front of this quaint, downtown shop. Customers can watch the bakers make artful cakes, delicious cookies and seriously satisfying cupcakes before placing an order of their own. If you need a specialty baked good, Mermaid’s can meet your needs. Their gluten free cupcakes are known to be some of the best. They also offer dairy-, nut-, or egg-free cakes and 100% organic or vegan options.

For those who appreciate the art of dessert, Olivea should be on your must-visit list. While the dinner and brunch menus are outstanding, no trip is complete without a sampling of their incredible desserts. Created by award-winning pastry chef and Olivea owner, Yasmin Lozada-Hissom, the menu includes sophisticated desserts such as the chocolate and fleur de sel caramel tart with milk chocolate gelato and nougat crunch and the pistachio semifreddo, grillote cherries and Sicilian pistachio pain de genes. If you're feeling less adventurous, the house made sorbets and ice creams are equally impressive.

Sweet Action Ice Cream

Dessert connoisseurs know that the best ice cream is made from the best ingredients possible. The ice cream makers at Sweet Action couldn't agree more. Their creative concoctions will make your mouth water. They use local Colorado dairy and the freshest ingredients available to make flavors such as blackberry lavender, Jack Daniels lemonade, salted butterscotch and cinnamon roll. They even offer vegan flavors! Sweet Action was recently featured on The View where they shared their Whoopie pie, Colorado honey and Stranahan's whiskey brickle flavors. Now the entire country is in on Denver's best kept dessert secret.
