Dessert in Houston, TX
Stop by for a slice of delectable homemade cake or pie, or order a whole cake for any special occasion or party. This cake shop offers hospitality, service and, best of all, amazing cake. If you are in the mood for a real meal, you can also order sandwiches, wraps and salads, or just relax with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. They also have a wide variety of cupcakes, from red velvet to coconut. In addition to the Post Oak store, they have a location on Kirby as well. And what's great is that it's open until midnight on the weekend.
Truffles, cheesecake, brownies, cookies -- they have it all at The Chocolate Bar. And if you love chocolate, this is the place to be in Houston. Start with a slice of rich, decadent old fashioned cake. We love Aunt Etta's Chocolate Cake with four delicious layers and the best chocolate icing you've ever tasted. At just under $10 a slice, it doesn't come cheap. But keep in mind that one slice is big enough for two (or more) people.
If you love cupcakes, this is the place to go in Houston. These little cakes are moist and sweet -- but not too sweet. And they are oh so cute with their beautiful frosting and presentation. We love their Hummingbird flavor, created with organic bananas and a touch of pineapple and iced with cream cheese frosting. You also can't go wrong with the lemon raspberry or red velvet cake. Both are smooth and tasty without being too heave. Their flavors rotate daily and you can place special orders 24-48 hours in advance. These cupcakes are relative expensive ($36 per dozen) but they are worth every penny.
The cupcakes and macarons here are divine. Using only the best ingredients, their desserts are sweet (as the name says), moist and very pretty. They have some standard cupcake flavors everyday (vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, strawberry, carrot and peanut butter) plus some different daily specials that you'll adore. We love their dulce de leche and nutella flavors. The shop is located at CityCentre and is open until 11:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays to satisfy your late night cravings.
The Jucker family runs Three Brothers Bakery and to say baking runs in their blood would be an understatement. The origins of this Houston bakery can be traced back to a bakery in Poland in the mid-1800s. Five generations later, Three Brothers Bakery is currently run by Robert Jucker and Houstonians continue to rave about the quality. Local favorites include amaretto cheesecake, jumbo carrot cupcakes and their famous black and white cookies. Three Brothers Bakery offers a wide selection of breads, cakes, pastries, pies, and specialty desserts.
