Barnaby's Cafe

If you are looking for tasty American food in a casual, friendly atmosphere, you can't go wrong with Barnaby's. Named after the owner's late sheepdog, of course, this eatery is dog-friendly. When you are seated on the patio, you can people watch as it looks onto Shepherd Drive. Their menu is pretty varied, from organic chuck burgers to spinach lasagna to fresh salads. The waitstaff will gladly bring dog dishes of water for your best friend, and a glass of water for you too. The interior of the restaurant is decorated in a fun, dog bone motif. Parking can be difficult and you might have to wait for a table at lunch and dinnertime. If you want to beat the crowd, come for breakfast instead! There are several locations of this restaurant, but the Riveroaks one on Shepherd has the best patio. Check out other locations at barnabyscafe.com.

Becks Prime at Memorial Park

Becks Prime has several locations throughout Houston. But if you are hanging out with your dog, head to the one at Memorial Park. Serving the best burgers in town, this restaurant overlooks the golf course and is a fantastic spot to spend the afternoon. They offer relaxed, covered outdoor seating and an outdoor counter for easy ordering. Your dog is more than welcome, as long as he is on a leash. Once you are finished chowing down, you can work off that burger by taking a walk through Memorial Park (which is also pet-friendly).
