Beauty in Las Vegas, NV
The 18,000-square-foot Spa & Salon Vdara is the first spa in Nevada that is part of the Green Spa Network, a group of spas that encourages sustainability and the greening of the spa industry. The two-level spa features a boutique experience with its 11 treatment rooms. Look for heated lounge chairs, ice towels, a redwood sauna, eucalyptus steam room and a hot plunge pool. You can even bring your iPod and plug it in during your treatment to listen to your favorite music. For further indulgence, save some time for the Meditation Lounge, where serenity abounds.
Color — a Salon by Michael Boychuck at Caesars Palace is the place to go when you want the perfect color. Boychuck, the celebrity colorist behind the salon, can take you blond or brunette, or any color in between with rich shades and vibrant highlights that look natural. He colors the locks of celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Mandy Moore and Jennie Garth among others. Interior designer Faye Resnick decorated the salon in white and alabaster with touches of silver, a striking contrast to the coloring going on within.
Tucked away in the back of the MGM Grand sits Cristophe Salon, a respite from the chaos of the Strip overlooking the resort’s Grand Pool. Back in 2004, celebrity stylist Cristophe opened his outpost in Las Vegas, ushering in an era of celebrity stylists in Sin City. At his Beverly Hills salon, he styles the hair of Liv Tyler, Mariah Carey, Pamela Anderson and Sen. Hillary Clinton. His prowess with the scissors landed him on Air Force One to cut President Bill Clinton’s hair and stop air traffic at LAX. The salon is decked out in clean lines and minimalist décor reminiscent of the 1960s pop era.
You’d expect to find an artsy salon in the midst of lounges, art galleries and artsy shopping in downtown Las Vegas. Globe Salon offers that with its urban boutique in the midst of the Las Vegas Arts District. The dark and sexy salon features Shiatsu back massagers at its shampoo stations. You can even find facials using BioElements products here hidden behind a door that shuts out the hubbub of the salon environment, as well as waxing and makeup applications.
The king of the TV makeover calls Kate Hudson, Goldie Hawn, Sylvester Stallone and Jenny McCarthy among his clients. Kim Vō, who has his salon at the Mirage, has been a head judge on Bravo’s “Shear Genius,” worked with the experts on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover” and makes regular appearances on E! Entertainment’s “The Daily 10” as a guest beauty expert. His sleek salon offers the Beauty Bar, where wigs show off the latest hairstyles demonstrate what hair looks like when you add hair extensions. Vō concentrates on moisture, but makes it fun with his Hairtinis, moisturizing concoctions with alcohol-laden names that leave your hair silky and nourished.
