Over 1.5 million environmentally friendly LED lights illuminate one of the country’s largest urban parks. Not only can you drive through this stunning light show you can also experience it snuggled up beside your loved ones in a horse-drawn carriage. Or allow the crisp winter air to propel you along the park’s path as you run, walk or bike Starry Nights on no car night every Monday in December. In addition to the breathtaking light displays Starry Nights also hosts Mistletoe Village, an exhibit with fun seasonal specific activities, and the Holiday Café, where holiday treats are available for purchase.
Celebrate the season like The King! Attend Graceland’s Annual Lighting Ceremony to kick off the holiday decorations at the Graceland Mansion. Musical performances and special guests make the Lighting Ceremony an event that you don’t want to miss! If you can’t make it to the kick off, then be sure to swing by the grounds and see the gorgeous blue lights on the mansion grounds along with the life-size Nativity scene, Santa and his sleigh and other decorations originally displayed by Elvis. True Elvis fans will want to go Graceland’s website to view daily live streaming video from the mansion’s rolling front lawn. The holiday spirit continues inside the mansion where various Presley family Christmas artifacts are displayed throughout.
Getting in the holiday spirit takes on an entirely different meaning at the annual Stumbling Santa Pub Crawl. Join in this unique adult holiday tradition as you bar hop all around Downtown Memphis. But don’t think this event is solely a night of frolicsome imbibing. The Stumbling Santa Pub Crawl is not without a more charitable cause. In addition to being required to wear Santa, Mrs. Claus or other holiday themed costumes, participants must bring a new unwrapped toy donation. All collected toys are then donated to a local charity. This is a fun way to pub hop and spread some holiday cheer both to the children of the selected charity as well as innocent onlookers. Bring your toy donation and meet at the publicized pre-designated beginning pub location. The rest of the route is secret and the next locations are revealed throughout the evening.
The saucy ladies of the Memphis Roller Derby League show their sultry side at their annual Ho Ho Ho Burlesque Show, one of their main fundraisers. Watch as the derby chics taunt, tease and almost take it all the way off in original burlesque acts. This event is guaranteed to be just as exciting and unpredictable as a roller derby match as you never know what tricks and treats these ladies have in store! In addition to provocative and risqué burlesque acts there is live music by local DJs and bands as well as special guest performances by dancing troupes. Show your support for the region’s only all-female flat-track derby league by attending this flirty and fun festivity.
