Alligators, turtles and exotic birds are just a few of the animals you will get a glimpse of as your make your way into the Everglades on an airboat tour. Tour guides will tell you all about the swamps and its wildlife before dropping you back off at the park to witness a live show of gator wrestling. Make sure you wear sunscreen and a hat. It gets really hot out there in that open boat. Admission costs vary but save a little money by pre-buying your tickets on the park’s website.

Whether you like wildlife or outer space, the Miami Science Museum is a great place to spend an afternoon as a family. The park’s private beach, open throughout the summer, has water slides for the kids and chairs for the adults to relax while enjoying a refreshing tropical drink.

Miami Book Fair

Every November, books and literature take over Miami during its annual book fair. With multiple events during one week, the book fair is a destination for locals and tourists of all ages. But the best part is the street fair, an outdoor festival where booths filled with books take over several blocks of downtown Miami for the weekend. Parents and kids can enjoy the books, the live entertainment and food sold throughout the festival. An area devoted exclusively to children also offers endless activities including story times, dancing and singing.
