Baby's Day Out in Minneapolis, MN
The name says it all...Minnesota Children's Museum caters to young explorers from as young as six-months up to age 10. This location is especially ideal for Baby’s Day Out. Seven galleries are designed to pique the curiosity of every little one who enters this magical wonderland. Exhibits run the gamut from exploring Minnesota habitats to the rooftop Art Park. Babies can do what they do best touching, seeing and exploring all this attraction has to offer. Throughout the museum, "funstigators" engage children guests by playing games and offering interactive activities. You can’t get any more baby-friendly than this children’s museum!
Don't let the thought of waterslides fool you. Cascade Baby, located just south of the Twin Cities in the lovely suburb of Eagan, is the largest outdoor municipal water park in the region. While there are plenty of fun waterslides for older kids, baby has a great time splashing shallow pool with a zero entry design, splashing water fountains and smaller, baby-friendly activities. There's even an umbrella covered sand area for little ones to dig and comfortably crawl. The restrooms are complete with changing tables and showers and there are even free sunscreen dispensers near the waterpark entrance. This is one place sure to make mommy and baby happy!
Como Park Zoo and Conservatory has been a Twin Cities icon for over 100 years. The family-friendly property features indoor and outdoor animal exhibits, various gardens, mini-golf and a historic carousel. Weekdays make for a nice Baby’s Day Out because the zoo is a little less busy than the weekends. Mom’s happy push strollers, chat with each other and admire the animals with their little ones. Admission is free, but a small donation is recommended. Bring extra spending money if you plan to meander into the adjacent Como Town Amusement Park, toddlers are especially keen on this section!
If you're looking for something to do that will make for an enjoyable Baby’s Day Out don’t miss the massive 500-acre Minnesota Zoo, located in the spacious southern Minneapolis-St. Paul suburb of Apple Valley. The vast land allows the zoo to offer various spacious regional landscapes. Highlights include six themed areas, three long walking trails and plenty of indoor exhibits for the winter months. Unlike most zoos, the seasonal Wells Fargo Family Farm introduces visitors to farm animals and includes a petting zoo. If you're around in April be sure to stop in for the annual "Farm Babies" event which features the newest zoo editions.
Minnesota's Mall of America is the king of shopping malls with over 520 stores, four department stores, 50 restaurants, a miniature golf course, the year-round Nickelodeon Universe theme park sitting in the middle of the mall, a wedding chapel and a movie theatre. But what makes this location fantastic for Baby’s Day Out is it’s a great place to bring the stroller and get some miles – especially during the winter. Grab some lunch as the huge food court then when baby wakes up be sure to head to the lower level to the Underground Aquarium. Babies love watching the sea life!
