Fiesta In The Park

Original arts and crafts star at this two-day event held each spring and fall, as hundreds of booths line the edges of Lake Eola Park in Orlando. Fiesta in the Park is the perfect way to spend a day with the whole family - even your pets! Stroll amongst the artists’ displays of ceramics, photography, clothing, glassware, jewelry, sculptures and more. And when your feet need a break, you can relax while the kids play in the humungous (and free!) children’s area, or while listening to live entertainment and sampling tasty local fare. The Spring Fiesta in the Park typically is hosted in April and attracts more than 200 artists, while the Fall Fiesta in the Park is held each November with more than 600 artists. No matter which you choose, the weather is bound to be ideal for a day spent around beautiful Lake Eola.

Central Florida Scottish Highland Games

Every third weekend of January, thousands descend upon the grassy lawns of Central Winds Park in celebration of Scottish culture. The Central Florida Scottish Highland Games is a two-day festival with plenty of fun for adults and the wee ones. Wander the grounds and take in live entertainment from Scottish musical artists, a bagpipe band competition, Scottish country dancing, archery competitions, the boulder boogie (“Pick up a big rock and walk as far as you can…'til you drop it!”), and so much more. At the athletics competition, watch as lads and lasses donned in traditional kilts take part in stone put, hammer throwing, caber tossing, and sheaf tossing. And for the wee ones begging for their own fun – choose from face painting, arts  and crafts, storytelling, and kid-friendly versions of the athletics competition are all offered for free in a special children’s area.

Downtown Food & Wine Festival

Downtown Orlando’s Lake Eola Park is the perfect setting for taste-testing delicious culinary creations and sipping on the best new wines. The Downtown Food & Wine Festival pairs this duo with world-class entertainment and celebrity chef appearances each spring (typically late March). The two-day festival features dishes from more than 40 of Orlando’s best restaurants, as well as international and domestic wines. In 2012, celebrity chefs from Top Chef, Just Desserts and Extreme Chef hosted live cooking demonstrations. Music lovers soak up a variety of music like neo blues, steel drums, alternative soul and rock. What better way to spend a beautiful Orlando winter day.

Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival

While this may be a theme park festival, it is certainly one worth paying a visit to. The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival presented by HGTV is typically held from early March through late May, and dazzles visitors with a myriad of flower creations throughout the theme park. More than 100 topiaries are scattered about, with the majority manicured to replicate some of the most popular Disney characters. Want to create you own masterpiece? Learn from HGTV and DIY designers and Epcot gardening experts in the designer presentation series. Visitors also enjoy live concert throughout the festival of the best “flower power” music of the 1960s and 1970s. To attend the event, you must purchase regular admission to Epcot.
