Cocktails/Wine Bars in Phoenix, AZ

Arizona has perhaps one of the most varied bar scenes of any state. Just as it is home to both desert and snow, it is also home to cowboy and couture alike. In some parts of the Valley you can experience the charm of a simple beer in the old west among men in dusty boots and tall hats. In the popular nightlife area of Scottsdale however, cowboy boots are traded in for stilettos and horses for shiny BMWs.

Papago Brewing Company

Papago Brewing Company is a great place to hang out in a laid back atmosphere and try some of the best beers from around the world. It is also a great place to have a cocktail too - don't let the name fool you, this place has more than just good beer, it has great signature drinks too! With board games ready and waiting to be played and frosty mugs on standby this is the perfect place to make yourself comfortable for some day drinking. Aside from the assortment of 30 different types of beer on tap, they also have a full walk in cooler. For those who turn up their nose at beer, there is a plentiful wine selection as well! You’ll also want to keep your eye out for the special events they hold in which you can sample a wide variety of spirits.

Axis-Radius

Axis-Radius is the ideal place to have a girl’s night and go all out. It’s a “dress to impress” kind of place, with martinis everywhere and dancing galore. If you hate the feeling of being trapped in a small bar, then you will love the roominess of Axis-Radius. There are two separate clubs connected by a glass walkway with different DJs, music types and even different atmospheres. It’s like having two clubs in one. For those who want to sip on a glass of wine while indulging in the richness of the casual cigar, the cigar bar provides a unique experience and is a great way to get out of all the craziness for a while. Nearly every weekend something new and exciting is happening so grab the girls, let the martinis pour all night and dance ‘till your feet hurt! This is one party you don’t want to miss.

Pussycat Lounge

This is one bar you might not want to take your mother to. With a stripper pole and a swing in this bar it’s the type of place you might want to have a bachelorette party or a 21st birthday. The Pussycat Lounge continues to be one of Scottsdale’s most notorious naughty night clubs. While nothing scandalous (aside from the wild and crazy moves on the dance floor) takes place, it’s sexy and sassy décor add to the overall appeal of this hotspot. If you are having trouble getting your man out to go dancing, once he sees the drop dead gorgeous bartenders and go-go dancers he may be feeling a bit more inclined. Enjoy a signature martini and let it all hang out – this is guaranteed to be one night you will never forget!

Stone Rose Lounge

Located at the beautiful Princess Resort in North Scottsdale, the Stone Rose is a popular hangout for resort guests and locals alike. Perhaps one of the greatest thing about being located in a state where rain is scarce is that bars like Stone Rose take outdoor drinking to a whole new level. While there is indoor seating, chances are you will want to hang out under the clear desert sky. With a bar outdoors and TVs nearby, this is a great place to have a glass of wine and relax. Below the bar is a pool which adds to the great décor. The Stone Rose has the feel of upper class luxury and is the ideal spot to sip a cocktail and get lost in conversation.

Rula Bula

If you ask the Tempe locals where to head out for a killer cocktail and a night of fun, chances are Rula Bula may be one of the first bar names they mention. On historic Mill Avenue, many businesses come and go but the truly great places stand the test of time. While this Irish bar brings in many Guiness lovers, it is also a popular destination for those with a more sophisticated pallet. Cocktails and traditional Irish food make this a hard place to leave once you walk in. There are normally bands lined up each weekend and when the nights are cool, the back patio provides a great place to hang out and catch up with friends. Because it is so near to Tempe Town Lake, it is also one of the best places to go during the annual firework display for 4th of July and also for the infamous New Year’s Eve party.
