Alder Pastry and Dessert

There's something for every dessert lover at Alder Pastry and Dessert -- from gelato to donuts to French pasteries such as croissants, everyone will satisfy their sweet tooth here! The design behind Alder is of a French bakery, with a twist -- we love that you can get your classic French pastry fix, but take it to the next level with non-traditional flavors and presentations. The gelato is another star at Alder and especially the peanut butter flavor that rotates through their gelato case on occasion! Check out their website for up to date information about their menu. Alder is closed on Mondays.

Voodoo Doughnut

You can't talk about doughnuts in Portland without Voodoo Doughnuts coming up in the conversation! With crazy doughnut toppings, flavors and names, Voodoo is a Portland dessert mainstay. If this is your first visit to Voodoo, you won't miss its location -- there is typically a line coming out the door, especially on weekend mornings. Voodoo is best known for its bacon maple bar -- a traditional maple bar with slices of cripsy bacon laid right on top (and yes, it's delicious). Other favorties include the doughnuts topped with cereal such as Captain Crunch and the Old Dirty Bastard -- a chocolate doughnut with peanut butter and cookie crumbs. Voodoo Doughnuts is cash only.

The Sugar Cube

Some of Portland's hottest new dining spots are food carts, so it's no surprise that one of the best places to get a delicious dessert in Portland has wheels! The Sugar Cube is a Portland local favorite -- open Wednesday through Sunday from 12:30 pm until 8:00 pm, it will be hard to pick from an actual dessert or a dessert drink, such as a smoothie or shake. Besides being able to walk up to The Sugar Cube for a quick treat, you can also place special orders to take home more than just one sweet! The Sugar Cube is cash only, but there is an ATM on site.

Scoop Handmade Ice Cream

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Scoop! You'll be hard pressed to believe that this delicious ice cream comes from a tiny food truck! The Scoop truck is typically parked in the North Station Food Cart Pod -- their handmade ice cream is completely organic and completely delicious. If you want to try one of their most popular flavors, such as salted caramel, get there right when they open, because it's likely that they'll be sold out if you wait too long! A little note for those of you who like a late night bowl of ice cream -- Scoop will make you a custom pint to-go -- you can even pick two flavors. Please check the Scoop Facebook page for details about their hours, which vary from daily.

Have you ever been out to ice cream or frozen yogurt and only gotten a tiny scoop of that topping you've been craving? Or, do you ever want to just have a tiny serving of something sweet, but end up eating a huge portion anyway, just because that's the way it comes? If that's the case, you'll love TartBerry, a self-service frozen yogurt spot! Serve yourself as little or as much as you want and then either load it up with toppings or just add a sprinkle. TartBerry is also a Portland dessert favorite because they are open late -- until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights!
