Carlyle Suites

You will love these luxurious accommodations so much you will not want to leave. Say goodbye to those questionably comfortable hotel beds and say hello to a Tempur-Pedic bed in your room that also includes a full kitchen. In addition to those amenities you will also enjoy free wireless internet and free parking. While there is no gym on site you will have full access to the nearby Washington Sports Club which has equipment as well as group exercise classes and personal trainers for an additional fee.

The Hay Adams

This lavishly decorated  luxury hotel was recently renovated in 2002 and is located across the street from the White House. In addition to the fabulous location you will also take in a bit of history, this hotel is the former home to both President Lincoln's personal assistant and a former Secretary of State. Amenities include free wireless internet, a morning sedan to get you to that early morning meeting, all day room service to satisfy those late night cravings, and board games available to keep the kids occupied. A highlight of your stay will be the nightly turndown service that leaves a chocolate on your pillow, slippers next to the bed, and a weather card telling you the weather for the following day. To complete your stay stop into the hotel bar where you are likely to see several politicians and dignitaries.

The District Hotel

A short ten minute walk from The White House and DuPont Circle The District Hotel is the perfect place to stay when you are working with a budget. While the rooms are a little on the small side you can't beat the price for the location as well as the extras including complimentary continental breakfast, free wireless internet, the Washington Post delivered to your room daily, and tour tickets available at the front desk. While there is parking available behind the hotel in their lot for an additional fee if you have a larger vehicle it can be a tight fit so you may want to park at an a nearby lot that has a little extra space to accommodate larger vehicles especially if you plan on leaving early in the morning.

Hotel Harrington

This charming family owned and operated hotel is located a short walk from The Mall and has an unbeatable price. The hotel is a little older and has all the basic amenities you come to expect from hotels but none of the extras that other more expensive hotels offer. Along with the safe location this hotel also has laundromats on the second and third floors allowing you to get some laundry done on your trip without either paying too much to have hotel staff launder your clothes or traveling to a laundromat in an unfamiliar city.

Hotel Tabard Inn

Located just five blocks from the White House this hotel featuring forty rooms was built between 1880 and 1900. Featuring hardwood floors and eclectic decorations including a big Buddha, it doesn't have all the amenities you have become used to like a television in the room or cable, you can however get a television from the front desk to watch basic channels. With a location like this you will spend the day walking through the monuments and museums and will be too tired to worry about television when you get in at night. You will enjoy free breakfast and in lieu of a gym in the hotel you can get guest passes to the local YMCA to use during your stay.
