Whitetail Resort

Skiers rejoice there is a ski resort just an hour and a half outside of the city, so even you are not able to see the nation's capital under snow there will be snow on the mountains. Whitetail has great wide trails perfect for beginners and a good amount of intermediate trails. You can also enjoy snow tubing and for all the parents they also offer hourly childcare for children over 6 months of age. A word of advice, if you need to rent equipment be sure to get there early in the morning. And if the early morning has you dragging, a midday stop into the Starbucks is a must for your java jolt.

National Gallery Sculpture Garden and Ice Rink

For some great exercise and fresh air there is no better place to ice skate than surrounded by some of the most amazing sculptures in the world. Skating can be enjoyed all day with 2 hour sessions starting every hour on the hour, but if you want to tour the rest of the museum you will have to arrive before 5. The cafe is open late and it is highly recommended that after you have burned off all that energy and worked up an appetite that you stop in to the cafe to eat and watch everyone else take to the ice.

Co Co Sala

For the perfect way to end a long day and really hit the spot stop into this chocolate lounge and boutique. With hot chocolate varieties including dark chocolate, white chocolate, milk chocolate, peanut butter, salted caramel, pumpkin, and chipotle will leave you wanting to come back every night to try each different flavor. They only have evening and weekend hours so your hot chocolate fix will have to wait until after dinner. And don't forget to get a pastry and a couple pieces of chocolate covered bacon to go with your cup of cocoa. This really is a chocolate lovers dream!

Uptown Theater

A great way to escape the winter blues is to go a see a movie, the Uptown Theater is a great way to watch a movie. This theater will take you back in time, there is a crystal chandelier in the lobby and only one screen that is covered by a red velvet curtain. This is the only one screen theater in DC so make sure it makes it onto your itinerary. There are also two levels to this theater, a balcony and the floor, taking you back and giving you a very unique viewing experience. As enjoyable as the viewing experience can be the parking situation can be that unpleasant so when possible try to take the Metro or catch a taxi to the theater. Also remember to allow yourself enough time before the movie starts because there is only one box office outside and the line can get rather long.

They offer a variety of facial treatments including a standard facial, glycolic peel, and microdermabrasion. Enjoy the pampering and do a little shopping around the corner after you leave to really make the day perfect.
