Holiday Activities in St. Louis, MO
Every year from Thanksgiving to the New Year, Tilles Park in West St. Louis County transforms itself into a veritable Winter Wonderland. More than a million twinkling lights and glowing holiday scenes transform the 75-acre stretch of park into a spectacular sight to behold. The display is open daily for cars and vans to drive through, and Saturdays are for horse-drawn carriage rides only, which do require advance reservations. Winter Wonderland has been a favorite St. Louis family holiday tradition since 1987. Make it one of yours as well!

Check out the Eckert’s website as well as local publications—you may find a coupon. Reservations are suggested.
The Missouri Botanical Gardens are breathtaking year-round, and the holiday season is no exception! The Gardenland Express annual holiday flower and train show celebrates two iconic Christmas symbols—trains and poinsettias! Botanical Garden staff and volunteers work diligently for months to plan, design and execute the many components that comprise this dazzling display. Eight G-scale model trains weave in and out of a magical landscape of live plants, mini conifers and more than 500 poinsettias and other flowers. There’s even a mini replica of local landmark Union Station! The display culminates in a “Christmas tree” fashioned from stacked poinsettias.
Every year from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve, Main Street Belleville becomes just a little bit more magical. For nearly 20 years, local shops along this four-block stretch have displayed handmade gingerbread houses in their windows. It makes strolling this quaint stretch of small businesses a tasty alternative to rushing around the mall. Plus, you’ll find those unique and personal gifts that can only come from small-town specialty shops. So take a self-guided tour from 335 West Main Street and then back up to 325 East Main Street. There’s plenty of wares—and gingerbread—to behold.
