Cocktails/Wine Bars in Cleveland, OH
D’Vine Wine Bar is a classy wine bar with an atmosphere that’s still laid-back and comfortable. They offer wines and other drinks from all around the world, and some of them are a little pricey. They also offer tons of wines by the glass, so if you don’t want to splurge on the whole bottle, it’s a perfect option. If you want more than just a glass but are watching your wallet, consider a wine flight. They offer the flights in 16 varieties, and they’re great for splitting with a friend or keeping all to yourself. If you show up hungry, check out their menu – they offer a small seasonal menu that’s super tasty and is designed around their best wines. If you like your wine chilled, alert your waitress. They’re known for wine that’s a little on the warm side.
Wine bars can be scary and intimidating if you’re not a connoisseur, but this place is nothing like that. The décor is comfy and quaint with a New England vibe, and there’s lots of private seating available. It’s great for a date, to curl up alone with a book or to bring a big group of friends. The staff is friendly and helpful, so talk with them if you’re not sure what you want or you don’t see what you’re looking for. There’s usually more available that what’s listed on the menu and they’ll do all they can to make you happy.
Battery Park Wine Bar is a great place to hang out. The building was a factory not too long ago, and though they’ve transformed it into a really nice space, they managed to do it without losing the urban, industrial feel. The floors are concrete and some of the walls are exposed brick. The food is cheap and the wine’s not very expensive, either. There’s a pool table near the back, which is something you don’t see too often at a wine bar. You’ll be surprised how fun it is to play a game of pool while you enjoy a glass or two of your favorite wine, and this makes it the perfect spot for a date or a night out with your girlfriends.
The 806 Wine & Martini Bar has a little bit of everything. The swanky décor and animal print furniture take you back to another time, but the whole place isn’t as fancy as it seems when you first walk in. You’ll find people here wearing anything from jeans and T-shirts to cocktail dresses and black ties, meaning you can stop in to cap off your night no matter where you’ve been. This “anything goes” way of thinking may sound fun (and sometimes it is) but it can be a bit confusing, as well. It’s nice to know that you’re welcome in your favorite jeans, but when you’re standing in front of the bathroom mirror next to a woman in a floor-length dress, you may feel a bit awkward.
This place is known for their food, but they’re all about the wine. They always have 100 wines available on their wine list, which is how they got their name (cento means 100 in Italian). The location of Bar Cento works both for and against it. It’s right next door to Bier Markt, and the two spaces are actually connected since they are under the same ownership. This relationship is a good thing, because customers of Bar Cento can order from Bier Markt’s extensive beer menu. It’s also a fail because on many nights, Bier Markt gets pretty loud and crazy, and that tends to overflow into Bar Cento – not the best atmosphere for a laid back glass of wine. If you’re looking for something to eat with your drink, try the fries. They’re the best in Cleveland, hands down.
