Beachland Ballroom and Tavern

Beachland is by far one of the best places to see a show in Cleveland.  It’s big enough to fit a crowd of about 100 people, but it’s small enough that still seems intimate. The drinks are cheap, and the food is great, no matter what you order. Most of the music that plays here is indie bands, but sometimes they mix it up with other genres. Unlike most concert venues, the bathrooms are always clean and the lines are usually short. If you hang out after the show, you’re almost guaranteed to see the band at the bar.

Fat Fish Blue

This place is all about the atmosphere. The food is great if you like Cajun food, and if you don’t you can probably still find something on the menu to suit your appetite. Definitely try the cornbread – delicious. The place is loud, and they encourage you to be, as well. This is the kind of place you come with your friends to laugh, drink, eat and have a great time without worrying about offending someone at the table next to you. They have live music five nights a week, and the act is usually local but sometimes is a touring national band.

Cain Park

Cain Park of one of Cleveland’s hidden jewels. This beautiful outdoor amphitheater is surrounded by a brick wall, and beyond that a thick forest of trees. You would never find it if you weren’t looking for it. During the summer months, this venue puts on several theatrical shows and also hosts many concerts. The concerts are usually for laid-back artists with a softer sound, which only emphasizes the romantic scenery that makes up the park. You can get a seat if you like, but for the whole experience just pack a blanket and find a spot on the lawn.

Do you like jazz? If you do, this is your spot. If you don’t, Nighttown might just turn you. They have live jazz musicians in house seven nights a week. Sometimes its local and sometimes it’s a big name, but they always blow you away. Even better, you get to eat delicious food while you listen to this great music. The place has a great atmosphere, with the stage resembling something from another time and the entrance that leads you down a dark hallway before revealing it’s glorious secret. People come here to have a great time and they are never disappointed.

Wolstein Center

This arena on the campus of Cleveland State University is home to the school’s basketball teams, but also to several big events that come to the Cleveland area. This is the place to see concerts, comedians, sports and other entertainment all year long. Parking is the biggest issue with this venue. Show up early because there’s a really nice parking garage across the street, but it only holds a little over 600 cars. Since most events there attract far more people than that, the garage fills up quickly. There are many privately-owned parking lots nearby, but be sure to look for ID before you pay to park there. Imposter parking attendants are an issue in the area.
